Community is key

It’s pretty well-known that I love Beeston.

This town has been through one hell of a transformation recently and it is something that has caused no end of problems. While I am writing this post the tram is still being built which has caused issues for residents and businesses while this huge infrastructural change takes place. It has caused conflict at times which is to be expected with the amount of disturbance but the one thing that has really come out is the sheer drive for Beeston to succeed.

The other week we had our Christmas lights switch on and it is times that this you can see the whole community come together and enjoy a special event together. Our BID and council provided the town with fantastic entertainment, shops and businesses decorated their windows with some beautiful decorations and Beestonians turned up in their droves.

It’s time like this when you see the true community showing. Everyone having a good time, everyone supporting local business and everyone showing how amazing Beeston is.

By supporting your local town you are growing your community. The more you see, talk and debate the more that can happen.

I’m a freelance web creative (and owner) at HeX Productions. Here I have had the privilege to work for some amazing people and organizations, helping them wherever I can. I don’t want to harp on too much on here but please check out www.horlix.com where you can see some of the amazing things. You can find me in Beeston, Nottingham, a wonderful little town 30 minutes from Nottingham city centre. Chances are I’ll be enjoying a coffee from one of our many independents or enjoying a real ale or two.
